Back in the good old USofA but leaving part of myself in Honduras =(

December 6, 2008

Hey everyone!
Well, I made it back to New Mexico. It is really exiting to be with my Family and all but I miss Honduras so much! I hope to go back someday soon. And if I don’t go back for awhile I will never forget the time that I had down there and all the memories I have made!
I miss you all at Ruach and I can’t wait to see you again!

Do you have a tissue? :’-(

December 2, 2008

Well like I said this morning… I cried practically all day! We got to school in the morning and I went up stairs into the learning center and was ok for a few minutes and then the kids started asking me about leaving and why and why I didn’t just stay……… Then I started to loose it. So I went down stairs and started packing up the first grade room. But people were coming in and saying goodbye and stuff and so I was crying again. That was most of my morning…… I cried the whole time. Then Lance and Annette and I went to Pizza hut and all the teachers were there. I started crying as soon as I saw them. We ate lunch and then they gave me gifts and stuff. I cried through all that too! ok ok ok……. you get the point I cried a lot! Anyhow……… then tonight I went to Marjorie’s. They said they had a surprise for me but I didn’t know what it was. When I got there it was dark and I walked in to a cake with candles and they had one of the things that pops and shoots confetti. It was so sweet! Then Marjorie and I started to cry… Yes I cried again…….. then we took tons of pictures! It was fun…… Well here are some of the pictures……..

Lions and Tigers and Bears….. OH MY!!

December 2, 2008

Good Morning!! So, this is the start of my last full day in Honduras :’-(…. I am so sad and will probably cry off and on all day……. and anyone who knows me well probably wouldn’t put it past me to cry ALL day ;-). Anyhow, Last night we went to a circus. It was SO fun! I had never been to a circus before and this was actually a real circus…….. not just a little tiny Honduran circus. They were actually from Mexico though. Sorry I didn’t get any pictures but I didn’t take my camera because I didn’t want it to get stolen or something.  And ok so they didn’t have Lions or bears but I couldn’t help it ;-)! They did have tigers, elephants, horses, a mini horse :-) , camels, and a lama though. They also did a bunch of normal circus things. They had the bars that the acrobats swung by, kids doing all kinds or tricks on the trampoline, clowns and more. It was awesome! Anyways, I better go. I have to head off to school for the last time :’-(…..

My week! :)

November 28, 2008

Hey! Sorry I haven’t really had a post of what I’ve been up to in awhile. so here it is :) …….
Last week we went to a concert, it was good. One of the teachers at the school is in a band so we went to see them. And then there was another guy that sang too. I really liked him and Annette and I got his CD. We also did a worship night at the chapel. Not very many people came but that’s ok. It was still fun. We sang all kinds of songs and had fun anyhow. On Monday we went to Tegucigalpa to take Stephanie to the air port and pick up Lance on Tuesday. Annette and I just stayed the night there. I cried when Stephanie left. I miss her! After we picked up Lance at the airport we went to the Hospital and Annette got her ultrasound done… Lance and Annette are having a boy! Wednesday we just had a teachers meeting and then worship team practice that night. Thursday we had Thanksgiving…obviously. We did worship for a service on the base in the morning and then came home and Annette and I cooked. At about six o’clock two other couples came over and we had dinner. Today was the school’s graduation. Marjorie and I went and got our nails done because she graduated. It was fun! I got a cute French Manicure :) ……. Then tonight was the graduation. The kids that graduated sang a song and some different people talked. It was basically like any small graduation in the states. Well here are some pix!

Happy Thanksgiving everyone! I hope you all have a great day and think on all ways that God has blessed you…… but not just today, everyday! Have fun watching football and eating lots of food, though!

~I Chronicles 29:13-14~
Now, our God, we give you thanks
and praise your glorious name.
But who am I, and who are my people,
that we should be able to give as generously
as this? Everything comes from you, and we
have given you only what comes from your hand.

Soccer!

So tonight was a really big game between Mexico and Honduras. Well Honduras won 1-0! We had the base worship practice tonight but the game was just finishing when we got back into town. The people were going crazy! They had their flags, and jerseys, noise makers and everything else under the sun! It was really funny because Annette and I being the discreet gringas we are rolled down our windows and were yelling like everyone else…….. It was awesome! Tomorrow I will probably have some student come up to me and be like “Miss, I saw you screaming last night!” but oh well it was fun………. (I was going to put a video up  but can’t figure out how to…..ugh…… oh well)

My not-so-virtual-virtual-tour of my room… :)

November 17, 2008

This is my room :D …… Yeah I know……. This is a post I should have done months ago…. and I was encouraged to by someone *CoughsorryChoughmamaCough* to do it a long time ago too!…….. anyhow……… here it is… My room! :-) …… (and no, it is not always this clean…… *sigh*)

Boxes, Boxes, and More Boxes…….

November 17, 2008

So the school is moving locations. Annette signs the Contract tomorrow… we pray!….. So this morning we went to the base to get boxes. First we went to the BX but they didn’t have any so we went to this other place. We got there and they asked how many boxes we needed. Annette said like 50….. They said that they were big boxes but we were not expecting them to be as big as there were! We ended up with 15 and they came up on the little fork lift and they were huge! So the guys got them all in the truck and we headed off………. Annette wasn’t able to see out of the back of the truck though. Then when we got to the school I gatherd up a bunch of the boys and we headed down stairs to unload the boxes. They were funny! Here are some pictures of our boxes piled high and our very strong boys………

November 11, 2008

On Saturday Stephanie, Annette, and I went to Mark and Paula’s home for boys…………. It was fun. I talked with them and played with the kids and stuff too. They had kittens and we played with them for awhile and then played some soccer and football. We also went out to the pig pen and saw the pigglets! They were cute! I didn’t get to see the week old ones but the other ones were cute too! One of the boys was really cute. He clung to my arm most of the day and didn’t want to let go. Then when any of the other little boys wanted to talk to me or hold my hand or something he would get really protective and stuff………. It was cracking me up! He was so cute! Gerardo wasn’t doing to well though. We didn’t actually see him because he was resting. His biological mother has not been cooperating and will not get the tests done to see if she will be a match. They have tried to explain to her that if she doesn’t do this Gerardo will die. But she has mental handicaps. Also they have until the end of this month to get the tests done because someone will pay for the tests only until then. They have asked the other boys at the home if any of them would be willing to go through the tests and donate one of their kidneys. Paula was ready to do the test right off the bat but because she is cocasian there is a very slight chance that she would come close to matching. Please keep this in your prayers and again more updates are on their blog jesuslovesthelittlechildren.org………
Well here are some pictures of the day!……….
